SECOND MONTH IN 2018!

Is this the year you decide to get more organized?

Was organizing your home on your Resolution List again this year?

Anyone else watching the time pass more quickly in life?? Yikes!

With the help of my LOVELY new Marketing gal, Hailey Wren Van Wormer I am setting a record with RTRO (Room To Room Organizing) of getting TWO consecutive monthly newsletters out to you all! This is HUGE for me!!

If you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, an OFFICIAL WELCOME! If this information is not interesting to you, please feel free to unsubscribe and you won’t recieve any other communications from here on out.

I’ve set an intention for a year long journey of sharing organizing tips, suggested remedies, and some inspiration for your own home transformations.

Please reach out and say howdy or send some transformation pics of your own! I’d love to celebrate them with you!
Thank you to all of you who gave a shout out last month! It was wonderful to hear from you and hear what’s going on in your world.

Warmly,
Colette

This month, I’m feeling compelled to share some KITCHEN PANTRY inspiration since I’ve done a few sessions lately that included this very important part of everyone’s kitchen. It appears folks are energized by the new year to focus on their health and food choices-what better way to feel inspired than to know what you have AND clear the unhealthy clutter!!

PANTRY PROBLEM #1

DISARRAY:
dis·ar·ray
ˌdisəˈrā/
noun

  1. 1.
a state of disorganization or untidiness.

This happens in EVERYONE’S pantry! Day-to-day life does not lend itself easily to consistent organization-in my house either! Let’s be honest, coming home from grocery shopping is really NOT the time you feel like organizing all your purchases, it’s more like “Where is there an empty spot-I’m dying to catch up on Frankie and Grace?!?!”

But…if we CAN create solid categorized areas for the varied food categories, it can help with this task IMMENSELY! The other major bonus to this categorized system is to help you know if you even need that 6th bag of coconut sugar…probably not. An easy visual of your inventory REALLY makes a huge difference in not having an overstocked category! Which means LESS CLUTTER and more peace!

These two AFTER images (center and right side) are visually pleasing (well, at least to me…) mostly due to the organization/blocking of the items, but also in regards to the ease of finding an item.

The categories I separated and put near one another include (but not limited to): Cereals and Crackers, Baking, Oils and Vinegars, Beverages, Canned Goods, Jams and Nut Butters, Sweeteners, Flours, Nuts, and probably a few more that I’m not remembering. The more items are located “like with like” the easier it is to know where to put them AND where to find them when you need them!

PANTRY PROBLEM #2

Another problem I find once I start digging around in the inventory is EXPIRATION DATES. Some folks disregard these with abandon (me being one of them – I’ve been known to poison myself from my own fridge from time to time. Sad but true) Here’s an article to help you make up your own mind on how far you are willing to push those dates. FYI, my self poisoning has always come from leftovers in the fridge…
Once you’ve determined the inventory you’re going to keep based on expiration dates and what you truly still want in your pantry, you’ll have a good sense on what type of containers/space you’ll need to help organize and maintain a good visual separation for those categories.

Here’s another “finished” pantry. Please note the bins are a VERY helpful tool for smaller items to be organized: ie: snacks, pastas, grains, chips, etc.

Another Before and After Transformation for you.
Here’s the BEFORE.

Here’s the AFTER.
I’m partial to fun colors but you may enjoy something a bit more subdued, perhaps something like below…

These are tall and narrow
